Project timelines

Design work on the first stage of the Sydney Metro network is underway and construction will begin in 2010 to enable the metro to be opened to the public in 2015.

As a result of a joint State-Federal Government feasibility study, the preferred alignment and station locations for Stage 2 of the network, from Central to Westmead, have now been identified. Subject to future funding decisions, construction of this second stage could commence as early as 2011.
